There are a lot of reasons why we still look at the moon. Some of us (like myself) do night photography. Religions and astrologers ascribe meanings to the moon. Still other people haven't quite gotten over watching the Teen Wolf series of movies and only shave every new moon.

30boxes is a wonderful AJAX calendar service. There already is the ability to see the next week's weather, which is great for planning my night photography. So I decided to write a calculator to figure the phase of the moon and export it as an RSS feed that 30boxes can add to one's calendar.

Simply add http://www.wirewd.com/calc/lunar.cgi as a syndicated web feed and you can track the phase of the moon throughout the month

Notes:

• I'm not fully impressed with the algorithm I'm using to calculate the phase of the moon. It may be off by a day or so as to when the full moon actually happens. I'm going to replace it with a more astronomically correct form as soon as I get the chance to do research. Until then, you may not want to rely on this to time things like religious observances.
